A swift fate met the Poultry Amendment Bill when it came up for consideration in the Legislative Council yesterday. Several' members took up the attitude that the Council had the right to investigate the reasons for the measure before assenting to its passage, and on the motion of the Rt. Hon. Sir Francis Bell the second reading debate was adjourned by 7 votes to 5. This motion was tantamount to killing the Bill for the session. ” Members of the Tinui sub-branch of the Plunket Society have made extensive preparations for a bazaar, in aid of the funds of the sub-branch, to be held on the Tinui Tennis Courts on Thursday next, at 2 p.m. Attractive offerings will be made on work, produce and cake stalls and games will be played on two excellent tennis courts.
