JOHNSONVILLE SALE.
WELLINGTON, December 21'
Prices were steady at the Johnsonville sale yesterday. This being the Christmas sale, Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., offered a very large (yarding of stock, comprising mostly prime quality lambs, for which competition was keen at late rates. Wethers and ewes met with a fair demand, while all classes of beef met with a ready sale at prices on a par with last week’s rates. There will be no sale between Christmas and New Year. Yesterday’s prices ruled as follow:— Cattle: Heavy bullocks, £6/10/- to £6; bullocks, £5/13/- to £5; cows and heifers, £4 to £3; runners, £2/19/- to £2/5/-; vealers, £l/16/- to 15/-. Sheep: Heavy wethers, 12/- to 10/6; wethers, 10/-, 9/6; hoggets, 11/- to 10/-; heavy ewes, 8/3 to 7/6; ewes, 7/* to 5/2; heavy lambs, 12/6 to 10/6; lambs, 9/6 to 7/6; light lambs, 7/-, 6/6.—(P.A.)
