SECONDARY EDUCATION.

MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD. The monthly, meeting of the Wairarapa Secondary Education Board waa held last night, Mr. A. D. Low presiding, in the absence of the chairman, Mr W. H. Jackson. Others present were: Messrs. J. E. MeV. Calwell, L. J. Taylor and G. Selby. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. W. A. Clarke, A. Donald, A. T. Jackson and E. J. Wright. A letter was received from the Trust Lands Trust stating that the 220 applied for had been placed at the disposal of the board for the purchase of sets of class text books for the Technical School The Trust is to be thanked for its action and also for the promptness with which it attended to the application. Mr. J. ik. Dixon, temporary assistantmathematics and science master at the Technical School, tendered his resignation owing to having secured a permanent position on the staff of Wellington. College. The resignation u-as accepted with regret and Mr. Dixon is to t>e thanked for his services to the school and congratulated upon having secured a permanent position. The secretary’s action in taking steps to call applications for the vacancy thus created was endorsed.

The acting-Principal of the Technical School (Mr. O. H. Yates) suggested that tenders for supplies of stationery for the school be obtained from local stationers. The suggestion, which will result in a considerable saving to parents of pupils, was adopted, subject to certain conditions. The secretary (Mr. H. M. Buddington) stated that the Public Works Department had made an inspection of the interior of the Wairarapa High School, the’report having been forwarded to headquarters. The chairman extended seasonal greetings to all members of the board.
