BENZINE FIRE.

PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE BADLY BURNED.

TE KUITI, December 17. While cleaning clothing yesterday afternoon, J. A. Nicol, a. grader driver tor the Public Works Department, operating between Piqpio and Te Kuiti, threw some cotton waste saturated with benzine into a fire in his hut. Flames shot out and set alight to the clothing, and Nicol was badly burned down one side. He was taken to the Te Kuiti Hospital, where he is making satisfactory progress.—(P.A.)
