PLUNKET SOCIETY.

MEETING OF MASTEBTON BRANCH. KARITANE HOSPITAL APPEAL. The monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday. The president, Mrs J. Caselberg, occupied the chair and there was a large attendance of members. The nurse's report was adopted as follows: Masterton, visits to office, adults, 333; babies, 308; older children, 98; telephone, 63; total, 802. Visits to homes, new cases 36, old- cases, 137.;. total, 173. Karitane products sold:— Karilae, 741b5.; Karol, 31b*.; Kariol, 67 lbs. Total number of babies on books. 348; total number of older children on books, 436. New cases charted town and country, 17. Outstations: Mauriceville, Hastwells and Mangamahoe, two visits: Ihuraua Valley, one visit; visits to homes, 27; new cases, 3; visits to new cases, 3visits to old cases, 4; total 7. Whakataki and Castlepoint, one visit; Whareama and Langdale, 2 visits. New cases, two; visits to new eases, two; visits to old cases 16; total, ,■lB. Ante-Natal Clinic: New cases for month, two; return visits to clinic, 12; casuals, two. Outside visits to homes, 1; total number of visits to clinic old and new cases, 17.

Mr. Athol Robertson was elected as a member of the car committee. In response to a letter from the Wellington Plunket Society asking for assistance towards the'Karitane Hospital Plunket appeal, three cases of produce were forwarded. This included a generous contribution from the Tinui sub-branch. Donations amounting to I2s 6d were also sent. The members of the committee wish to express their thanks and appreciation to Mr. Carmine of the Public Trust Office for the great help he has given. It was decided to supply mothers receiving help from the society with small money boxes to which they could contribute 2d a week for the first month and Id a week for the rest of the year. This would amount in all to ss, which is the minimum subscription for membership. The first meeting of the society in the Now Year will be held about February 10. In the absence of the honorary treasurer, members may leave their subscriptions at the Plunket Rooms or forward them to the president. Thanks are expressed to the following for gifts of baby clothing: Technical School girls, Mesdames Henderson, Montgomery, Lyttle and J. C. Broad and Miss Allan and also to Mrs Myer Caselberg (Wellington) for the gift of a eot cover.
