AMERICAN VETERANS.

STILL DEMANDING BONUS. (Received Friday, 7 p.m.) PORTLAND (Oregon), Sept. 16. Despite the warning reiterated by President Hoover yesterday that it would be fatal to the recovery of the country, the American Legion Convention to-day voted overwhelmingly in favour of a cash payment bonus to war veterans. Although a motion to censure the President for the eviction of the “Bonus Army” was known to be contemplated, none originated. The convention incidentally approved of the immediate repeal of the Volstead Act and the submission of the repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment.
