HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated July 2, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—
Tallow.—No auction until next week. Market steadier with better demand on fcpot and afloat with no material change in values. Hemp.—Manila: Market inactive and unchanged. Sisal: Market steadier and fair business being done. Closing value No. 1 fair average quality for .Tuly/September shipment £l3/16/-. New Zealand: Market dull and unchanged with no first hand sales reported. ; Fruit.—Market overstocked and depressed. Tasmanian prices declining tartly due to variable condition. Bulk 'realised 4s 6d to 6s. S.S. Rotorua and Tairoa consignments in cold storage, also s.s. Cumberland at Manchester and Orari at Liverpool. Current prices for New Zealand apples:—Granny Smith, Ils to 14s largest sizes, down to 8s; Delicious and Statesman, 7s to 10s; Daugherty, Tasma and Ballarat Seedling, 8s to 9s; Rokewood, 8s to 10s; Bturmer, 7s to 8s <sd. Otago pears ex Bort Huon, 10s to Ils for half eases; and 6s to 8s for trays; except Keiffers which are wasty and valueless.
