HARRIER ACTIVITIES.

RESULTS OF SATURDAY’S EVENTS

VISIT TO WANGANUI.

There was a very good attendance of members of the Masterton Harrier Club on Saturday, when eight teams of five men apiece took part in the teams race and in the sealed handicap event. After being started by Mr. J. Hunter, the field soon spread out and the lead was taken by L. Hack, who maintained his position practically all the way. The six miles course, which was over slippery, hilly country by way of the golf links, was chosen with a view to giving members an idea of what might be expected at Wanganui next Saturday.

The first man home was L. Hack, 38min 50sec., followed by J. Buras, 39.27, and W. Hack, third, 40.5. The first complete team home was that of W. McDonald, comprising W. McDonald, A. Spicer, J. Barnes, R. Bell and H. Spiers, with a total of 51 points. E. Shaw’s team came second. The sealed handicap was won by A. Hedley, with W. Burns second. Both put up a very good performance. The former is a novice runner. Advice has been received from the Wellington Centre that the Provincial Harrier Championships will be held in Masterton on Saturday, August 13. ENJOYABLE DANCE.
