WRESTLING.
BIG ATTRACTION NEXT TUESDAY. BURMISTER v. PENCHEFF AT MASTERTON. Next Tuesday night, July 2, at 8 p.m. a wrestling match of eight ten. minute rounds under catch-as-catcih-can rules will be held under the auspices of the Masterton Wrestling Association. The opposing wrestlers are two oversea heavyweights with imposing records!, Sam Burmister, the Eskonian Jew scaling 14st 21bs and George Pencheff, of Bulgaria, *l3st 121b5.. Both men are in perfect physical condition and have been wrestling recently in Australia and at the Phillipine Islands. Burmister, who holds the title of heavyweight champion of the Orient is one of the best known men in the profession in which the ability to tie your opponent in knots and tangle his toes are the hallmarks of a champion. He has engaged in over 500 contests. When Sam applies a head lock and uses the full force of bis lBineh biceps his adversary feels r.hat there are far better methods of earning one’s living than the grappling game. Sam’s special hold, the flying spits, is usually a match winner when applied. He has wrestled in every country in the world under all codes of wrestling and is a master at all of them. Boston crabs, body scissors, wrist locks, toe holds all figure prominently in the repertoire of George Pencheff, the wonder boy wrestler from Bulgaria, but his special favourite is the spectacular aeroplane spin. George seems to do more of his wrestliifg in mid-air than any other grappler in the game. He has the gentle habit of dumping his opponent from an aeroplane spin and then doing a nose dive himself on to the prostrate body of the opposition. A quiet and unassuming young man outside the ring, Pencheff is a demon incarnate inside. Once iho business starts there is no let up until he has completed his job. Stamina and great strength are the chief components of his make-up and go to m«»ko him one of the greatest draw cards in the wrestling game. The Masteiton Wrestling Association is beginning its season auspiciously by matching these two masters of their trade.
