Mr. Nigel Wood, of Masterton, son of Mrs H. T. Wood: and the Late Mr. H. T. Wood, ‘has been, awarded a scholarship in science, which entitles him to two years) free tuition at the ‘Cambridge University. He will leave for England in August. Mr. and Mrs J. M.. McGregor have been appointed Master and. Matron at Old Men’s Home, Solway, Masterton. Mr. and Mrs McGregor, who lived for some time in Hastings, are at present residing in Carterton. Mrs McGregor is a trained nurse and. Mr. McGregor formerly was engaged' in farming pursuits.
At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Masterton Permanent and Investment Building Society Mr. W. E. Chamberlain tendered his resignation as a* Director. This course was necessary owing to the fact that Mr, Chamberlain leaves Masterton to-day to reside in Gisborne,, where he has received the appointment (out of 105 applicants) of Secretary to the Poverty Bay A. and P. Association. Regret was expressed at Mr. Chamberlain’s departure from this district and highly eulogistic references to his personal qualities and valuable services to the Building Society were voiced by his codirectors. The vacancy on the Board has been filled by the appointment of Mr. A. Chapman.
