FLOOD MENACE.
BREAKING OF LAKE DAM IN RIVERINA. THREE TOWNS THREATENED WITH DISASTER. ; HOUSES ALREADY’ INVADED. Unitea Brass Association.—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copy righ t. SYDNEY, July 14. The retaining wall of the dam on Lake Urana is fractured in three places and tons of water are pouring through the breaks, flooding the already overflowing Billabong' Creek and Edward River. Unless the flow is checked in time, this means disaster for the towns of Moulamein, Cobargo and Jerilderie. Whether the ’ breaks were made by the pressure of the water or by anxious townspeople to save their homes is unknown. Last night water entered the streets of Moulamein, which is more than a hundred miles from Urana. A number of homes were invaded by the flood waters. A more serious flood is expected in a few days. (Lake Urana is a large artificial reservoir in the Riverina almost equidistant between the Ylurrumbidgee and wT n . vers ’ Jeriide rie, Cobargo and are towns lower down on the Billabong Creek and Edward
