CRISIS IN BERLIN.
SEVERAL PARTIES OBJECT TO FINANCIAL DECREE. DEMAND for CONVOCATION OF REICHSTAG. PRESIDENT CONSULTED BY CHANCELLOR. United Press Association.—-By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) BERLIN, June 13. A political crisis is threatened as a result of the People’s Party, after a long and stormy meeting, demanding the early convocation, of the Reichstag to revise or eVen. annul the emergency decree, effecting drastic economies and imposing heavy additional taxation. The Nationalists are equally insistent on revision and will support the People’s Party. A meeting of the Reichstag House Committee is fixed for July 16. If the hostile proposals are carried, the Government certainly will resign. It is believed that the Socialists hold the key to the situation. They too are demanding the convocation of the Reichstag, if Dr. Bruening (Chancellor) refuses to alter the provisions of the decree, which is regarded as oppressive on the workers. The People’s Party apparently is aiming at the reorganisation of the Cabinet and at putting a man more favourable to the industrialists in place of Dr. Curtius, who contends that the convocation of the Reichstag would lead to increased economic tension. Dr. Bruening has hurried to consult President von Hinderburg, who is on holiday at Neudick.
