PULVERISED COAL.

’ BIG SAVING IN SHIP COSTS. SYDNEY, August 26. By burning pulverised coal it is claimed that a saving of £2O a day is effected in the running costs of the new German freighter Strassfurt, of the Hamburg-Amerika Line, which, reached Sydney on her maiden voyage. Her sister ship, the Bitterfeld, burning ordinary coal, carries 10 more firemen and consumes more fuel. In future, the Btrasafurt will use Australian coal for return journeys. It is understood that the Manly Ferries will install plants and use pulverised coal.
