Mr. H. T. Hume leaves to-day on a month’s holiday to Sydney. Mrs W. Robinson, Wanganui, is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs G. P. Clapeott, Fleet Street. Mr. Frank Armstrong has disposed of his Akitio Station to his two sons, Messrs Hamish and Brian Armstrong. Miss G. Matthews, of the Mastertoil Technical School staff and secretary of the Wairarapa Basketball Association, bas been appointed selector of the South Island team to play the North ’lsland at the Dominion Tournament at Hastings next week. At the Wellington Competitions yesterday Mias V. Irwin (Carterton) secured first place in the class piano solo, reading at sight, 12 and under 16 years and Master Eddie Buckton (Masterton) was among the highly commended in the class boys recitation, 12 Mid under 16 years. Mr. G. Davis, who has been in charge of the Kaiparoro-Mt. Bruce Road (now almost completed) for many months, has been appointed district overseer for the Mein Highways Board of the Mastcrton and adjacent counties, with present headquarters at Martinborough. Mr. R. Berryman, of Wellington, whose aeroplane crashed at PaekakaTiki on Bunday afternoon was injured about the face, and also suffered from shock. He was admitted to the Wellington Hospital on Sunday evening, and is expected to be there for about a week or a fortnight. Mr. Berryman’s aeroplane was extensively damaged. It was dismantled yesterday and taken to Rongotai by road.
