PARK LIGHTING CARNIVAL.
ARRANGEMENTS WELL FORWARD. RUGBY TOURNEY. Arrangements in connection with, the monster carnival to be held at the Park Oval on Saturday, March 29, by the Park Lighting Committee were advanced a further stage at a wellattended meeting of representatives of sports bodies and others held last night. Mr. C. M. Strouts, chairman of the Park Lighting Committee, presided. Reports of sub-committees and other carnival business were discussed and the present indications point to a most successful and enjoyable function. The offer of the Caledonian Society to take charge of the gates was accepted with thanks. A special attraction will be the seven-a-side football competition for which fourteen teams have already entered. The entries include teams from several prominent outside Clubs and no donbt some excellent football will be witnessed. A midget football competition will also be held. Messrs C. M. Strouts, L. Clarke and the secretary were appointed as a finance committee. It was reported that the badges had come to hand and these were on sale at Is each. The finance committee, with the addition of Mr. J. W. Bird, was appointed to go into the matter of obtaining trophies for the football competition. It was decided to hold another meeting on Monday night next.
