SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS.
FJSATHEKSTON. I (‘‘The Age” Special.) k Miss Myra Wakely, South FeatherX ton, is at present on a visit to Wellington. Mr. J. W. Holland, Featherston, who has been on a holiday to Auckland and Rotorua, has returned home. Croquet. In the final for the senior championship of the Haunui Club, Mrs. Watson defeated Mrs. Barry. Mrs. Watson is now the holder of the Riddiford Cup. The champion of champion games for the Wairarapa commenced on Monday Playing at Carterton, Mrs. Bowles, Featherston, defeated Mrs. Watson, Haunui, 26/9, 26/11. Bowling.
Four rinks from the Victoria Club, Wellington, visited the Featherston greens at the week-end and had an enjoyable day. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Crawford and Franks and was thoroughly appreciated. Featherston was successful in winning -both m the afternoon and morning. The beautiful garden of Mr. and Mrs C. Elgar, at “Fernside,” Featherston, were thrown open to the public on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. A large number of people took advantage of the opportunity to see the wonderful display of flowers and shrubs. A collection box was placed at the entrance, the proceeds of which will be for the obstetric chair.
