PLEASANT SURPRISE.
GATHERING AT ROTOTAWAI LINKS. On Saturday afternoon, at the Wairarapa Golf Club’s links at Bototawai, a pleasant surprise met Mr. and Mrs Lipinski, who have been closely associated with the Club- for many years, Mr. Lipinski as green-keeper and Mrs Lipinski in charge of the afternoon tea. Mr. D. C. Collins, hon. secretary, said the players desired to associate themselves with the day’s event, the twenty-fifth anniversary of ths wedding of Mr. and Mrs Lipinski They had only heard of it by chance, and immediately the telephone was set going with the result that all players. expressed pleasure at the opportunity offered of expressing their good wishes on the occasion. Mrs J. Carne Bidwill', Ladies’ Captain, presented Mrs Lipinski with a silver het water jug -on behalf of the players. Mr. J. W. Card, vice president, then followed with a parcel for Mr. Lipinski. He trusted that they would make the evening party ae merry and as happy as they all hoped the oncoming years would be. The players, himself included, had often exeused bad play by blaming the green-keeper, but on occasions like this such trifles were forgotten. He concluded a happy address with warm wishes to the guests of the day, the assembled players endorsing the sentiments by acclamation.
