MONTHLY MEETING HELD LAST NIGHT. t GRANT TO SMALL HOLDINGS ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Trust. Landis Trust was held last night, the chairman, Mr. W. H. Jackson presiding. There were also present Messrs D. Oaselberg, G. Selby, J. L. Hughes, S. L. P. Free, T. F. Watson, J. M. Cbradine, R. Krahagen and T. Wagg. The Town Clerk, Mastertoa, advised that the Borough Council was at present negotiating with a Government Department for a site for a public convenience. The Masterton West School Committee wrote assuring the Trustees that the committee had no intention of anticipating the Trust grant when purchasing text books. It was stated that the whole of the pupils had been supplied with stationery and text books without any cost to the parents. The Wairarapa Small Holdings’ Association wrote applying for a further grant of £5 towards the funds of the association. A grant of £5 was made. The Registrar of the University of Otago, the Ma®sey Agricultural College and Mr. A. E. Mandcr wrote forwarding suggestions as to the proposed Fcholarships. The first-named suggested that a scholarship should be awarded on the result of the matriculation examination and Mr. Marnier suggested on the sixth standard proficiency certificate, which shows, added the chairman, that the Trust could found scholarships on any basis it liked. The letters were referred to the Education Committee for consideration. The treasurer reported a credit balance in No. 1 account of £2Ol 19s 7d and No. 2 account of £B6 Ils. The rentals received for the month were £390 6s lid and late rental amounted to £ll3 9s 4d.
