SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. (“The Age” Special.) At a meeting of the parishioners of iSt. Mark’s Church, Carterton, on Wednesday evening, ararngements were made to tender a farewell social to the Rev. W. and Mrs. Raine, on September 2, upon the occasion of th cig departure for Eastbourne. Police Court. In the Carterton Police Court yesterday morning, a man named Patrick Sullivan was charged with drunkenness and also with being an idle and disorderly person. On the first charge he was convicted and discharged and on the second information was also convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months., As Sullivan had work to go to, he was ordered to leave the town immediately. ALFREDTON. (“The Age” Special.) On Monday evening last a farewell social gathering and presentation wan tendered Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Percy, who have sold their property and are leaving the district. There was a good attendance of young folk, and the music was supplied by Mr. L. Nation. Mr. T. A. Weston carried out the duties of M.C. After a dainty supper, which was provided by the ladies, Mr. 8. M. George presented the guests of the evening, Mrs. Percy with a three-tiered cake stand and Mr. Percy with a case of pipes and a cheque. Mr. George referred to their long residence in Aifredton and also the interest Mr.‘Percy had taken in all sports and in local body work, he being associated with the School Committee, Hall Committee and other bodies. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a most enjoyable evening to a close.
