BUILDING SOCIETIES.

WORKMEN’S FRIEND No. 1. DIRECTORS MEET. The monthly meeting of the directors of the Workmen’s Friend Building Society was held last evening, Mr. A. E. Winzenberg presiding, there being also present, Messrs. T. Jenkins, W. H. Jackson, H. J. O’Leary, T. B. Bragging and A. B. Wood. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. F. J. Hunn, W. Kemp and B. E. Jones. Representations in regard to certain forfeited shares made on behalf of a former member of the society were discussed at some length. The directors, however, could not accede to tie request and decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Society’s solicitors. 'Tie finance report was considered satisfactory. It was decided to an appropriation of £3OO by ballot and £3OO by sale at next meeting. No. 2 SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the directors of No. 2 Society was also held, the same directors being present. Applications for seven shares were presented and the shares duly allotted. The secretary reported that certain appropriation moneys had been paid over with the approval of the Valuation Committee, the usual documents having been executed. The finance report was considered satisfactory, and the secretary intimated that there were still some shares available for issue to new members, particulars of which could be obtained from him.
