PERSONAL.
Votes of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr Herbert and Mr R. Tankersley were passed at yesterday’s meeting of the Miasterton A. and P. Society. The death has occurred of Mr. Makarini Tauara Ngata, eldest son of the Hon. Sir Apiarana Ngata, aged 35, after a brief illness, states a Press Association message from Gisborne. The deceased was educated at Te Auto and Hawkesbury, New South Wales. He was managing the Pahi station, and was regarded as one of the most promising of the younger generation of Ngatoporou farmers. A surprise visit was paid to Mrs H. S. McLaren, at the residence of Mrs W. G. Lamb, yesterday morning by members of the ladies’ committee of the Masterton. Golf Club, when tho President, Mrs H. G. Williams; on behalf of the club, presented Mrs McLaren with a copper tray in appreciation of her valuable; services to the club. Mr and Mrs McLaren will shortly leave for their home in Auckland
