Further matters in connection with the forthcoming Exhibition were finalised at a meeting of the Wairarapa Exhibition Committee last night, over which the chairman, Mr. E. M. Hodder, presided. The lay-out of the main hall is to be on the same lines as at the 1927 Exhibition, except that a central cross aisle will be provided to allow of a better circulation of the people. The Plunket Society is to be offered the use of a room alongside the main entrance to the Municipal Hall as a mothers’ rest room. It is also the intention of the committee to offer a portion of the main entrance to the Publicity Department for an. exhibit. Every effort is to be made for the convenience of exhibitors with a view to facilitating the provision of really first-class exhibits, even better than on the last occasion. It has been decided to make a charge of 6d. for children and Is. for adults, but season tickets will be available at concession rates. The Stationmaster, Mr. Mahoney, was in attendance. He stated that the Railway Department would agree to provide special facilities for the conveyance of school children and others at excursion rates. It was stated that it was the committee’s intention to get into touch with every school child in the Wairarapa by circular, which would point out the advantages of visiting Masterton to see the Art and Industrial Exhibition and state the special facilities that will be provided for their conveyance and all relevant information. The meeting approved of a scheme by the Art Section for an exhibition of pictures, which, it was reported, had now been definitely arranged. The attitude of the committee was that no effort should be spared to create a maximum of interest for the public. It was reported that it was intended to hold a poster competition, for which very attractive prizes would be offered. Invitations to compete are to be issued throughout the Wairarapa, and it is expected that considerable interest will be taken in the competition. There will.be senior and junior classes «*jnth substantial first and second cash in each case. A vote of thanks was passed to the Masterton Borough Council for its generous action in allowing the use of halls free of charge.
