It was decided that oil switches be erected at Kent Street, Carterton, and at The Knoll, as recommended by the Engineer. The peak load and peak load periods have remained approximately the same as during December and no alteration has been made in the setting of the time switches controlling water heaters. The guarantee agreement for the Bideford extension has been signed hy the prospective consumers arid’ steps being taken to bring this district into the inner area. The guarantee agreement for the Te Ore Ore ettensioriw also been completed and steps are being taken to raise the necessary special loan to cover the cost of,this line. The Papawai extension guarantee has been completed and work on this line has also been commenced. One signature is still required for the Rangitumau extension and the work is not being proceeded with. Negotiations have been in progress to make an extension from Ward’s JAne through Messrs Ingley Bros.’ property to Mr. H. Morison « homesteafl. The guarantees have been agreed upon, and when the agreements, are completed the erection of the line is to be proceeded with. Four consumers Will be served by this line. A request has been received te investigate a further extension of the power lines from Te Ore Ore along the Taueru Road, a distance of approximately ten miles, and is to be attended to. Special resolutions necessary in connection with the Redemption Loan of 1 £950 were passed. . Satisfactory business has been done in the showroom and the increase over ' last year maintained. The connected load was increased in January by 97 k.w., and in February by 88 k.w., the number of new consum- [ ers being, January, 29; February, 24. The Engineer reported that a survey . of the proposed line for approximately . three miles on the Masterton-Taueru Road had been made and plans prepar- ■ ed. This line cannot be started until a loan and poll have been taken and carried. Since the earths have been disconnected from the E.H.P. fuse supi ports, the interruptions to supply in the outlying lines have almost been entirely eliminated. A damaged trifurcating box on the E.H.P. underground cables at the Waingawa Sub-station was the cause of an interruption on the Carteri ton-Greytown feeders on March 7. Re- , pairs are being effected, and at the pre , sent time the Greytown and Carterton supply is being fed direct from the Kourarau line through the Ponatahi loop line. A start has been made with the Papawai extension. Both plants at Kourarau headworks have been run ning continuously and in parallel with the Government supply for the past two months. Advantage was taken of the pre-arranged shut-downs to carry . out minor overhauls and adjustments. ; Both dams have been spilling for the last three weeks. Providing stability in pressure and supply is reached on the Government plants and also that satis--1 factory arrangements can be made, it is 5 proposed to start pipe-line cleaning ! operations on the lower pipe-line on Saturday, March 30.
