A bulletin issued at 11.15 a.m. states that the King had a good night and there was a slight improvement in His Majesty’s condition. The bulletin was signed by Sir Stanley Hewett, Sir Hugh Rigby, and Lord Dawson. At 8.40 p.m. a bulletin stated that the King had a restless day, but his condition was not changed. The next bulletin is to be issued on Sunday night. The second bulletin was signed by Sir Stanley Hewett and Lord Dawson.—(Australian Press Association.—United Service.) SUPERB BATTLE. SPIRIT OF THANKFULNESS. LONDON, January 5. The “Daily Telegraph” states: “The whole nation will go about its business to-day in a spirit of thankfulness at the measure of hope provided by the latest review of the King’s illness, mingled with thankfulness, wonder, and pride at the superb battle the King is waging in body and mind. The passing of the cloud may be delayed, but the people now are permitted to believe that it will ultimately lift. Whatever power the nation’s sympathy and deep-rooted affection may have to help His Majesty in his dire oonflict it is his in a degre unprecedented in the whole history of England.” — (Australian Press Association.)
KING SHIFTED. (Received Sunday, 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, January 6. The “Sunday Times” learns that it was possible yesterday afternoon to remove the King from his own room, in which he has been lying since the illness began, to an adjacent audience room.—'(Australian Press Association.) STATIONARY PERIODS. RAY TREATMENT APPLIED. (Received This Day, 0.42 a.m.) LONDON, January 6. It was disappointing that the King’s upward tendency reported in the morning was so quickly interrupted, but no undue concern is shown. Stationary periods are expected at this stage. Lord Dawson did not call at the Palace in the afternoon. Dr. Howitt and Dr. Woods again applied ray treatment, — (Australian Press Association.)
