AN UNBEATEN RECORD NORDEN CUP MATCH i DANNEVIRKE, Augu-t 15. The' Dannevirke men’s hockey team maintained to-day its unbeaten record by successfully defending the Norden Cup for the fifth time this season, defeating Wanganui (challengers', by four goals to two. Dannevirke scored the winning goals in the concluding stages of a keenly-contested game.— (PA.)
LADIES’ JUNIOR TEAM MATCH AGAINST WELLINGTON The following have been chosen to represent the Wairarapa junior ladies in a hockey match against Wellington at Carterton on Saturday: Goal, Miss M. McCalmont; full-backs, Mrs F. Smith, Miss O. Johnson; halves, Misses R. Brown, M. Harland, R. Masson; forwards, Miss F. Best (centre); Misses G. Peters, J. Rose (insides); Misses F. Young, D. Smith (wings.) Emergencies: Backs, Misses G. Hamilton, T. Walker; forwards, M. E. Polson. Wellington will be represented by the following: Miss B. Faine, N. Mays, N. Webber, ’M. Slater (captain), T. Blackie, P. Keogh, A. Davies, H. Dewhurst, E. McClelland, F. Mather, K. Harris, - Mclndie and K. Hennessey. • The team will be leaving Wellington at 8 a.m. on Saturday and will return on Sunday. Mrs Lark will accompany the girls as chaperon. As all will require to be billeted over Saturday night the secretary of the association (Mr. H. Simmonds) will' be pleased to receive offers from anyone willing* te assist with the billeting. The match is timed to commence at I. p.m. Wairarapa wilhplay in the Carterton Club’s colours.
