MINIATURE RIFLES.

ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. WON BY R. H. NICHOLL. (* ‘ The Age ' ’ Special.) The annual championship meeting of the Wairarapa Miniature 'Rifle Association was held at Carterton on Saturday afternoon and. evening, sixty-five competitors from the Wellington South, Petone, Lower Hutt, Featherston and Carterton Clubs taking part. When the shooters went down to compete in the finel ten, to decide the championship, R. H. Nicholl, of Petone, was leading P. G. Goldfinch (Lower Hutt) and A. Caldwell (Wellington South) :by twopoints. Nicholl registered a score of 99 and Goldfinch 100, leaving Nicholl winner for the second time in succession by one point. In presenting him with the Association’s gold medal, and Colonel Hart’s Challenge Shield, Mr. C. J. deLacey, on behalf of the Association, congratulated Mr. Nicholl upon his good markmanship throughout the meeting.

Competitors expressed their admiration at the able conduct of the gathering, which was under the control of Mr. C. J. deLacey. He was ably assisted by Mr. H. Rolls, as assistant-sec-retary; Mr. R. P. Wakelin, as range officer; Messrs. C. J. Nix and G. W. Busby, scutineers; Mr. W. Johnson, referee; Messrs. K. McKenzie and J. Lenihan, target stewards; and Mr. J. B. Bairstow. Results:—
