CARTERTON RETAINS BANNIN SHIELD DALEFIELD DEFEATED The final game for the Bannin Shield was played in Carterton on Saturday when Carterton beat Daiefield by three to nil. It was not a spectacular game to watch as Carterton never looked like being beaten. Dalefield put up a very poor display and except for an occasional hard attack did not worry their opponents overmuch. The Carterton boys put up a fine display and deserved their win. Every man played above himself. They newer let up i either in attack or defence. Riggs was the mainstay of the forwards and was always dangerous. He scored two .good goals through sheer determination. K. Goodin also deserves special mention as left wing. He was very fast and dangerous, and gave the best exhibition as left wing seen here this season. The backs were never really pressed, but were always on hand when wanted, Smith and Whitburn being very solid. Daleficld were never m the picture. The forwards could do nothing right. The only players who impressed were W. Bannin and Burgess. W. Bannin put in some very fine work. He gave his forwards their full share of the ball, which. they failed to turn to advantage, and was always wi..h the backs when wanted. Burgess was also notable and made some clever saves. The rest of the team played with no confidence and very little combination.

Y.M.C.A. v. COMBINED TEAM: Y.M.C.A. A played a combined team from Greytown, Mauriceville and Y.M. C.A. B, and after a real good tussle the game ended in a draw—two all. Messrs Fisher and Brazendale controlled both games.
