ENGLISHMEN ACCOUNT FOR AUCKLAND AUCKLAND, August 11. Before an attendance of about 25,000 the English League team defeated j Auckland to-day by 26 points to 15. > Beautiful weather conditions prevailed and the ground, was in good order. Auckland led by 8 points to 3 at half’ time, but the better condition of the visitors told its tale in the secoi.fi spell when at stages the backs revealed their best form. The English backs how- i ever, made many mistakes in hrnfiling and their forwards were often guilty of glaring obstructions. The home | team’s tackling was spasmodic, their weakness in this department letting the Englishmen through at a critical stage of the game. For the winners Evans, Ellaby, Rees, Frodsham, Bowman and Brough scored tries, .Sullivan converting four. For Auckland Hardgreave, Clark and L.
