MASTERTON HARRIERS.
FRIENDLY' RUN ON SATURDAY On 'Saturday, commencing from the Masterton Park Oval, twenty members of the Masterton Harrier Club joined in one of the most enjoyable outings of the present season—a friendly run over a course of fully .six miles. The train was set by Messrs Hunt el ano Kitchener, and consisted of all ob* staclcs encountered over a perfect cross-country course. At the commence* meat the runners were divided into two packs, but after two miles had been covered the packs met. From this point the faster runners each took a slower membfer in hand for the remainder of the journey, pointing out faults and giving numerous hints on the way to negotiate fences and on striding. Members are asked to- keep strictly in training for the impending visit of the Wanganui Barrier Club, which is sending a very strong team to; Masterton on August 25 to compete- for the Benson Trophy. Practice nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 5 o’clock. The Wanganui visitors will be entertained at a dance in the Municipal Hall. Several club members’ intend to visit Wr.liington early in September, to run in the Dome Cup race of five miles, which is promoted by the Hutt Valley Harriers.
