RAM FAIR BIDDING.

PROPOSED TIME ALLOWANCE & MINIMUM On the motion of Mr. David Smith, the Masterton A. and P. Association yesterday approved as recommendations to its incoming committee two rather important proposals with regard to the conduct of ram fairs. One was that the minimum bid should be fixed at three guineas. The other was that the time limit for bidding on the first pen should be one minute, a bell to be rung ten seconds before the minute expired, and on other pens forty seconds, with a ten second bell. In support of his first proposal Mr. Smith said that some ,of the entries at ram fairs should' not be admitted. Regarding the time - limit, he said this was in force in Hawke’s Bay, “and they put through more stuff in one day than we do in two.”
