AMERICAN PRIMARIES.

WEST VIRGINIAN RESULTS UNCERTAIN (Received Thusday, 7.15 p.m. . NEW YORK, May 30. Present 'reports from Charleston, West Virginia, state that the Primaries show Governor Smith to be leading Senator Reed by a slight margin, which may possibly be overcome in the final tabulation. Mr. Hoover, against Senator Goff, appears to have met a similar fate as he did in Indiana. Senator Goff is apparently victorious but by no great number of votes. Mr Hoover’s backers are claiming another “moral victory” in a difficult field and believe that fie may obtain some six of the nineteen Republican delegates. Mr. Hoover’s foes, however, are making much of the defeat and President Coolidge’s supporters are cheered by Senator Goff’s run.—(Australian Press Association).
