REMOVAL OF AN ANOMALY DESIRED INJUSTICE TO COUNTIES (The “Age” Special—By Telegraph). PALMERSTON N., May 31. Messrs Denton (Levin) and C. C. Jackson (Masterton), at the InterProvincial Farmers’ Union Conference st Feilding to-clay, both stressed the arguments many times used to secure recognition of the principle of full county franchise in local body polls. The following remit was moved: “That the Government be asked to rectify an anomaly in the- franchise for the election of harbour, hospital and power boards by extending the full county franchise to rural voters. ’ ’
It was pointed out that it is possible for boroughs, with a Parliamentary franchise, to outvote rural districts and so deprive them of representation.
