VENIZELOS AGAIN.
CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT IN GREECE. United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ATHENS, May 22. The Ministry has resigned. M. Venizelos is Expected to form a Government. The Cabinet’s downfall is due to the decision of M. Venizelos to resume leadership of the Liberals, two sections of which were represented in the old Ministry. Consequently, reconstruction is necessary. The retiring War Minister, M. Mazarkis, denies that there is- any militaristic coup afoot. Considerable opposition to M. Venizelos is reported in militarist and Republican circles, the latter assorting that, in the absence of a formidable Opposition, M, Venizelos will establish a dictator-ship.—(Austra-lian Press Association.—United Service.) “MIXED FEELINGS.” COMMENTS BY LONDON “TIMES” (Received Wednesday, 7.15 p.m.) LONDON, May 23. “The Timos” editorially says: “News of M. Venizelos’s return to polities is received here with mixed feelings. Gratitude for his services to rhe Allies in the Great War and admiration for his gifts of diplomatic skill must predispose us to a favourable opinion. Yet there is no evidence that he will promote internal social tranquillity. M. Venizelos recently asserted that he had no intention of returning to the political fray except to save the country from a military dictatorship, expressing the opinion that any attempt to overthrow the Government would be a national disaster, but his opinions on current polities are increasingly quoted in the Athens news-papers.”—-(“Times” cable.)
