With the works proposed in the Opaki and Uriti ridings during the current year no reduction could he made. HOSPITAL AND BRIDGE RATES. Last year the Hospital Rate was reduced by 1-48 of one penny in the pound, and in order to meet ‘the levy demanded by the Wairarapa Hospital nF° a i f x? currenfc year an increase or i-48d jn the pound is necessary. Provision was made in last year’s estimates for the interest and sinking fund required to meet payments under the Bridge Rate, for the first halfyear s interest, on the proposed loan, for the reconstruction of the Ruamahanga R lver Bridge, Te Ore Ore. As inis work was not proceeded with, this account stands in credit to that extent. With this balance available for the current year the Bridge Rate remains the same, as last year.
