("The Age” Special.) A very enjoyable concert, in aid of the Carterton Girl Guides, was given in St. Mark’s Parish Hall on Tuesday evening, the programme rendered being thoroughly appreciated. The competition for a cake, donated by Mrs. W. H. Booth, was won by Mrs. Zillwood. Personal. ' ■» The death took place at Carterton yesterday morning of Mrs Ellen Bailey, a very early resident of the district. For many years the late Mr. and Mrs Bailey resided at Parkvale, where they were engaged in dairy farming. The late Mrs. Bailey was 75 years of age. Euchre Tourneys. The euchre tourney at Parkvale under the auspices of the school committee, was largely attended. Tho prizes were won by Miss Alice Pike, and Master P. Oliver, and the consolation winners wore Miss Cassidy and Master Coulter. The music for dancing was provided by Mr. and Mrs. D. N. Adams (cornet and piano), and Mr. H. Roberts (banjo). Extras were given by Messrs H. Roberts and T. Oliver and Mr. T. Oliver was M.C. An enjoyable euchre tourney was held at Matarawa on Tuesday evening under the auspices of the school committee. The, first prizes were won by Mrs. Lawrence and Mr. J. Hodder, and the consolation awards by Mrs. Challis and Mr. Lawrence, after drawing offl with Messrs. H. Bain, A. Playle a Tinsley, J. Max and W. J. Ticehurst. The prizes were kindly donated by Mesdames F. Groube and Tuck, and tho ladies’ committee provided supper. FEATHERSTON. (“The Age” Special.) Miss F. Till, Featherston, who ha* been on a visit to Taumarunui, has returned home. Mr. T. Ruane (Rotorua) ig at present on a visit to relatives here. The Southern United Football Club held its annual dance in the Anzac Hall on Tuesday night, when visitors from Greytown Martinborough and tho Lower Valley wero present. The danco proved a great success, both socially and financially, and was thoroughly en--37e/ « ver yone. The music was supplied by Te Tan’s Orchestra, and very enjoyable extras were played by Misse* D. Donald and M. Trotman and Messrs. Smith, Himona, Merwood and de Castro. Mr. George Hyland wag M.C.
