COUNTY CHAIRMAN.

COUNCILLOR J. W. A. FALLOON ELECTED. Councillor J. W. A. Falloon was elected chairman of the Masterton County Council at the annual meeting yesterday, upon the nomination of Councillor J. McGillicuddy. The retiring chairman, Councillor W. I. Armstrong, was also nominated by Councillor H. H. Mawley. Councillor Falloon expresssed his appreciation of the honour the council ■ had done him and said he trusted that with the co-operation of councillors, the council would proceed on sound lines, and provide the ratepayers with good roads. The retiring chairman, Councillor Armstrong, who had held the position for five years, congratulated Councillor Falloon on his election as chairman. He' also spoke in eulogistic tarmg of the services of the County'Clerk (Mr. J, C. D. Mackley) during 'the past year. Councillor H. H. Mawley was reelected. chairman of the Finance Committee.
