EMPIRE WEEK.
JUDGING OF SHOP DISPLAYS TO-MORROW. The Empire Week shop window displays will be judged to-morrow evening and the results announced at the Y.M.C.A. at 9.15 ©’clock. Mr G. R. Sykes, M.P., will give a ten-minute address on trading within the Empire at the gathering in the Y.M.C.A rooms. As to-day is Empire Day, Mr F. Norris requests as much bunting as possible be flown. SERVICE AT ST. MATTHEW’S. To commemorate Empire Day, a service will be held in St. Matthew’s Church on Sunday afternoon next, at 3 o’clock. An address suitable to the occasion will be delivered by the Rev. W. Bullock, whose ability as a speaker is so well-known, and those who attend the service can be assured of a thoughtful, inspiring, and beneficial address. This year it has been decided to extend a cordial invitation to all women, as well as men, to attend. In former years the services have been well attended, and it is hoped that on Sunday next, the attendance will be proportionately larger. The Municipal Band which for man yyears past has kindly supplied the music for the hymns, has again consented to give its appreciated services.
