("The Age” Special.) To-morrow being Easter Day, the services at St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, will be conducted by the Bishop of Wellington. Following the usual cu*£ tom, the offertories will be handed tothe vicar of the parish. The headmaster reported to the April meeting of the Greytown School Committee that .the primary roll now stood at 278, with an average attendance of 245. This average had been maintained for two quarters, and he hoped that the school would enter the Grade 5 group when the schools were re-elassi-fied in September. The Committee has decided to interview the Hon. A. D. McLeod with a request for his assistance to secure a grant for remodelling the school. Personal. Mr. M. Doohan, of Cross Creek, who has been an inmate of the South Wairarapa Hosptal for the past six months, suffering from injuries received in a motor cycle accident on the Western Lake Road, has made sufficient to enable him to leave the The many friends of Mrs. J. D. Hunt, of South Carterton, who has been seriously ill in a private hospital at Masterton, will be glad to hear that she is making satisfactory progress. Trophies Donated. The Southern United Football Club has been offered a £2 2s. trophy by Mr. D. Watts for the most improved junior player, and Mr W. Robinson has donated a £1 Is. medal for the best all-round fourth-grade player. Trust Grants. During the year ending March 31, 1928, the Greytown Trust Lands Trust made the following grants:—Public School, £5O; Library, £6O; Fire Brigade, £2O; Memorial Park, £25; Municipal jsand, £5; School picnic, £2 2s. FEATHERSTON. (“The Age” Special.) In continuance of the life-sa*fttg tests recently carried out by the pupils of the Featherston District High School R. Smith, F. Gray and D. Cariyon passed the theory examination and are now fully qualified bronze medallionists, while R. Bourke gained an elementary certificate. Tennis The tennis season is now drawing to a close, but the championships are almost complete. Following are further results of the Featherston Tennis Club games:—Ladies’ Singles.—Third round: Miss I. Card defaulted to Miss G. Wickens; Miss J. Cundy defaulted to Miss R. Card; Miss E. Hosking defaulted to Miss B. Vincent, Miss Kenyonlost to Miss E. Barry, 6/3, 2/6, 2/6. The semi-finalists are: ‘Miss Wickens v Miss Tulloch; Miss R. Card v. Miss B. Vincent. Personal. Mrs. H. Lawson, Featherston, has returned home efter a holiday spent in the Auckland district.
