IRISH ELECTION

TREATY WITH GREAT BRITAIN UPHELD. ALLIANCE OF PARTIES LIKELY. o — f MR COSGRAVE’S STAND. E. LONDON, June 14. The “Times” Dublin correspondent states that although the returns are incomplete it is clear th nt the Irish Free State elections have resulted in a victory for the supporters of the Anglo-Irish treaty. The polling was unexpectedly heavy in nearly every constituency. The constitutional elements won, despite the Republicans’ admittedly superior organisation and the large campaigning funds which De Valera recently obtained in America. Mr. Cosgarve declared before the bleetion that he would not remain in office unless he worat least fifty seats. [This is now most doubtful, but the declaration will not prevent a big alliance with some of the smaller Constitutional groups. This seems the most (robable result of an election which reaffirms the determination of a majority bf the people in the Free State to support the constitution. — (London •* Times.”)
