METHODIST CHILDREN’S HOME.,

COMMITTEE MEET. WORK REQUIRED FOR SEVERAL BOYS. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Methodist Children’s Home was held this week. The Rev W. Beckett presided, and there were also present: Mesdames J. Elliott, Pragnell and Cocker, Miss Burton, Messrs C. E. Daniell, W. H. Judd, A. H. Daniell, A. J. Donald, Dr. Prior and Rev. J. Cocker (secretary). The resignation as a member of the committee of Mr VV. S. Jones, until recently clerk of the Magistrate’s Court, was received. Mrs Rayner hrs bem temporarily employed upon the staff.

As several boys have arrived at an age to commence work, the secretary was requested to ascertain if suitable occupations could be found for them. The members of the “Sedgley” committee were thanked for their willingness to help in connection with the elder boys of the home. General satisfaction was expressed with the manner t.n which the floors of several rooms had been covered with wood and further improvements were agreed to. Gussie Donghi, who has been in the home for some years has now gone to Palmerston North, and George Johnston, a boy from the home, has gone to, Koputaroa, and other boy ,to a home ,at Woodville. Miss Louie ChurchiM, the first girl to be admitted to the home, and who has for some rime been a junior member of the staff *lB commencing work in a position in Masterton.

The Public Trustee of the Hawera district, wrote stating that under the will of the late Mr Samuel Cox, the lisvm of £l5O had been left to the home, though it would probably be some time before the amount would be paid over. Concerning the grant from the McCarthy Estate, it was decided to support the Wellington poai'd in any action they might take.' A portion of the land'in connection with the home has been leased to Messrs Jones Bros. The receipts for the month amounted to £59, and the payments to £l6O. Amounts to the value of £75 were passel for payment. Mrs J. Elliott, who is about to visit Australia, was granted leave of absence.
