ANZAC DAY.

OBSERVANCE ON MONDAY. THE PARK ASSEMBLY. On Monday, the twelfth anniversary of Anzae Day will be commemorated at a Public Memorial Service, under the auspices of the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers’ Association, at the Soldiers’ Memorial in the Masterton Park. The service will commence punctually at II a.m., and a special request is made that poppies be worn on Anzac Day. An appropriate service has been arranged by the associated clergymen of- Masterton, and the address will be delivered by the Rev. W. Bullock. The music for the service will be supplied by the Masterton Municipal Band, under the conductorship of Mr. J. Noble. “Chopin’s Funeral March” will be rendered by the 7th Mounted Rifles Military Band under the baton of Lieutenant Spurdie, and the Last Post will be sounded by Lieutenant Fox of the 7th M.R. Military Band. Several companies of Girl Guides and Boy Scouts are attending the service. Ex-service men of all ranks and units are invited to assemble at the Soldiers’ Hostel at 10.30 a.m. to march with the Municipal Band to the Park. The 7th Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles Regiment under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel A. S. Wilder, D. 5.0., M.C., at, present in camp at Solway Showgrounds, will also parade and attend the service. If the weather is unfavourable, the service will be held in the Opera House at 11 a.m.

AT THE SCHOOLS. Anzae services will be held at some of the schools on Monday. At Lansdowne a service will commence at 9 a.m. at which the Rev. G. S. King will give a short address. Parents are invited to attend. SPECIAL SERVICES. Special Anzac services will be held in the local churches to-morrow. An after-church social will be held in St. Matthew’s Parish Hall to 1 entertain soldiers attending the service at St. Matthew’s Church.

FEATHERSTON MEMORIAL. UNVEILING ON MONDAY. The fine District Soldiers’ Memorial erected in Featherston will be unveiled on Monday (Anzac Day) "by Sir James Allen, at 2.30 p.m. The Mayor of Featherston, Mr. J. W. Card, invites the public to attend. The musical programme will be played by the Masterton Municipal Band. GREYTOWN. A special memorial service will be conducted at the Greytown Town Hall at 11 a.m. on Monday. Territorials, returned soldiers, school children and others are invited to form up in front of the hall, where the Municipal Band will play “The Garland of Flowers” while wreaths are being placed on the cenotaph. A service will be held in the hall. The chief speaker will be the Rev. C. B. Taylor.
