ROAD SUBSIDY.

CONSIDERED INADEQUATE. WHANGAREI, April 21. At a meeting'of the ‘No. 1 District Highways Council, the opinion, was strongly expressed that the present maintenance subsidy was inadequate to maintain the roads in the North at the standard required by the Main Highways Board. Representations are to be made for an increase. It was also resolved to urge board to push 'through, the Dominion road construction prgramme in four years instead of ten.—(PA)
