SCHOOLS VISITED.

BY THE HON. B. A. WEIGHT. HALF-HOLIDAY DECLARED. The Minister of Education (the Hon. R. A. Wright) spent a busy morning in Masterton yesterday visiting the various schools. Commencing at the Central School, the Minister addressed the pupils, and also presented a Royal Humane Society bronze medal to Master Gilbert Orr, for an act of bravery last year. The West, Whatman and Lansdowne primary schools, and the High School and Technical School were also visited, and in each instance the Minister expressed his appreciation of the happy surroundings of the schools, and the sound state of health enjoyed by the scholars. At each institution the chairman of the committee was requested to declare a half-holiday during the week in honour of the first visit of the Minister to the school.

After morning tea at the Technical School, the Minister left for Eketahuna, where he was to be entertained at a civic lunoheon.
