Mr A. E. Jull has been re-elected president of the New Zealand Counties’ Association.
Mr F. Kempton has been elected presidentrof the South Wairarapa Working Men’s. Club.
The Hon. A. D. McLeod, who was absent from the House of" Representatives last- week on account of indisposition, resumed at his office- yesterday. The friends of Mrs S. R. Gawith, of Masterton, will regret to learn of the death of*her brother, Mr - Frederick Edwards, of Nelson, which occurred at Wellington on Saturday. When the last mail left England, Mr and Mrs A. Hendry, of Masterton, were hoping to visit the principal towns in England before going to Scotland. They intend to return to New Zealand at the end of the year, first going over to France and Belgium.
Mrs Walter Bishop, who died yesterday in New Plymouth, aged ninety, arrived from Dorsetshire in the ship Timandra in 1842. Her husband, who predeeeased her, arrived in New Plymouth in the Oriental in 1841. Mrs. Bishop had resided 86 years in New Plymouth.
An Auckland message states that Mr J. 8. Dickson, M.P., for Parnell, was entertained by his election committee and made a presentation in recognition of his Parliamentary services. The Hon. J. G. Coates and the Hon G. J. Anderson telegraphed messages, eulogising Mr Uickson’s services as representative of Parnell and Reform party Whip.
