LATE SPORTING.

RANDWICK MEETING. THE HAWK AND WINDBAG WIN. HEROIC BUNS LAST. (Received 8.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 15.—The attendance at Randwick was 30,000, and was, no doubt, affected by overnight rain and threatening weather. Racing was on the quiet side, but Heroic was the unpleasant surprise of the day. After a dismal failure in the All Aged Stakes, he was again the popular favourite in the Cumberland Stakes, but finished last. On his Doncaster showing The Hawk was regarded as the next best in the Aged Stakes and vindicated the confidence reposed in him. All Aged Stakes.—The Hawk 1, Whittier 2, Night Patrol 3. Also: Beauford, Heroic. Heroic played up and whilst facing reverse to the starting post the field was despatched to one of the worst starts ever witnessed at Randwiek. Night Patrol, the Victorian Governor’s horse, was also shockingly treated by the bad start. J-length; H; 1.37 J. Coogee Handicap. —Border Chief 1, Cistercian 2, Kiga 3. 21 started. II length; 1.524.
