ETHEL OSBORN.
A FAREWELL TOUR.
Miss Ethel Osborn, Australia’s new star soprano, described by one critic as “possessing a golden voice and a most charming personality.” will Say good-bye to New Zealand in a concert tour of both Islands. Miss Osborn is well-known throughout the North Island, having performed in most of the principal towns under engagement to the male-voice choirs and other societies. Her work, since she was last here, has made a most remarkable development, and lovers of the art of song will look forward with keen interest to her re-appearance. Support will be afforded by a specially selected body of Sydney artists, and most enjoyable programmes may be confidently expected. After this tour Miss Osborn, acting on the advice of Dame Nellie Melba, leaves for Italy to pursue further operatic study. Signor Schiavoni, the distinguished conductor of the Melba-Williamson Opera Co, was most enthusiastic regarding the beautiful voice and, during the Sydney season, coached Miss Osborn in operatic work at the special request of Dame Melba. The Masterton concert will be given in the Opera House on Monday, March 36. The box plan is at the Arts and Crafts.
