SUNDER ACTION.
AGAINST JOURNALIST. VERDICT FOR DEFENDANT. Palmerston North, May B.—ln a slander case at the Supreme Court, in which Ernest Ball, hairdresser, proceeded against John K. Hornblow, journalist, both of Foxton, claiming 21000/damages, the jury found for defendant. The cause of thb action was the alleged use of the words “You are a bookmaker and are breaking the law every day.” Plaintiff, under cross-examination, made admissions tlmt he had been concerned in betting transactions, and several witnesses gave evidence as to making bets with him. —(P.A.)
