OVERWORKED MINISTERS.

SIR HEATON RHODES TO REST READJUSTMENT OF DEPARTMENTS. Wellington, Mqy 7.—The Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes, Minister for Defence, etc., who has been ordered by his medical adviser to take a complete rest, will leave Wellington for the South Island to-night and will be away for some weeks. Meantime, his various portfolios have been allotted as follows:—Forestry, Sir Francis Bell; Defence, the Hon. W. Downie Stewart; War Pensions, State Fire, Government Life Insurance, Superannuation and Friendly Societies, Hon. G. J. Anderson. The announcement was made some time ago that Sir Heaton Rhodes and Hon. D. H. Guthrie, Minister for Lands, will retire from political life at the close of the present Parliament, and in Reform circles tlie question of the consequent Cabinet changes is being discussed. a
