Christchurch, May 7.—The yarding of fat cattle and sheep was one of the biggest on record, due no doubt to the burst of winter last week making the holders of forward stock apprehensive about feed resources. Store sheep.—Old ewes predominated. A good sale for all quality sheep, particularly wethers. Good 2-th 4-bd ewes 42/6, ordinary 33/3 to 35/, s.m. i-bd 29/9, s.m. xbd ewes 28/5, s and f.m. 4-bd ewes 25/ to 26/1, aged 4-bd ewes 14/11 to 21/, aged 4-bd empty ewes 15/1 to 16/9, aged xbd ewes good condition 18/6 to 22/3, lower condition 14/ to 17/6, good fwd 4 and 6-th 4-bd wethers 32/6 to 34/2, 4, 6 and 8-th 1- wethers 30/8 to 31/3, good fwd 2- i-bd wethers 32/6, ordinary 2-th J-bd wethers 25/ to 27/11, fwd i-bd lambs 22/ to 25/3, ordinary 18/ to 21/, good m.s. -J-bd lambs 24/3, f-bd ewe lambs 25/8 to 27/, 4-bd owe lambs 23/ to 28/, small xbd ewe lambs 22/8, small and inferior lambs 14/6 to 17/d. Fat lambs.—An average yarding of 3130 head. A keen sale, easily the best of the season. Prime lambs made from lOjd to lid per lb, overweights and lightweigths lOd to IOJd. Fat sheep.—A very heavy yarding of 13 races. , A good sale, exporters operating freely and the big yarding was cleared. Extra prime wethers 50/, a few special 57/6 to 62/, prime 37/6 to 42/6, medium 33/6 to 36/6, light 30/ to 33/, prime ewes 31/ to 3i/j medium 27/6 to 30/6, light 23/ to 27/, old 18/ to 22/. Fat cattle.—About biggest yarding on record, comprising 670 head. A lot of light stuff was included, but all good beef sold with freedom. Prime beef made from 31/ to 34/ per lOOlbs, medium 27/ to 30/6, light 24/ to 26/6, and rough down to 15/. Special steers made from £lB to £2O, good £l2 to £l5, medium £8 to £ll, prime heifers £7 to £lO/15, prime cows £6/10 to £lO/5. Vealers.—Some good station lines forward and sold well. Runners £5 to £6, good vealers £3/16 to £4, good calves £2 to £3/5y small calves 5/ to 25/. Store cattle. —A very heavy yarding, mostly of poor class, and a fair sale. Some 3yr steers made to £5/10. Dairy cows.—A large yarding and springers sold well, cows making to £ll and heifers to £lO/10. Inferior down to 30/.

Fat pigs.—A good entry. Baeoaers sold firmly, but porkers were weaker. Average price of bacon per lb 6d to 6Jd, porkers 74d to Bld. Store pigs.—A slack sale. Large stores 40/, medium 26/ to 30/, slips 11/ to 14/.—(P.A.)
