THE GOLF BALL.

A STRIKING SUCCESS. The annual ball of the Masterton Golf Club, which was held in the Municipal Hall last evening, was a striking success. Visitors were present from all parts of the Wairarapa, and also from Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Palmerston North, and the dance was considered the most enjoyable for some time past. The hall was again very beautifully decorated, the scheme this year being devised by Mrs Peter Gordon, who incorporated some of the ideas and material used by Mr E. Pay ton last year, notably the long chains of links from the central chandelier to the walls. Bamboos and paper flowers in profusion completed the embellishments of the main hall. In the supper room the decorations were supervised by .Mrs Moser, Mrs Erl Williams and Miss Burden, and they also were, very effective. The design was a jazz one, including a medley of colours in streamers and also in flowers, of which many beautiful bowls were used, including camellias, chrysanthemums, ixias, pentstemons, delphiniums, and a riot of autumn shades of foliage. Red stream-. (»•:! hung from the lights and long festoons of lycopodium to the walls. Co-operating with the presidents (Mr and Mrs Hugh Williams) and the secretaries (Mrs Lord and Miss E. Robieson) was a strong committee consisting of Mesdames W. Robieson, G. Sellar, R. McKenzie, Flannery, Moser, Erl Williams, G. Mawley, P. Gordon, Rishworth, Horton, D. Buchanan, N.
